- Our esteemed colleague, in his book "Horn Technique," has actually given a formula for defining what is a "good horn part." It is known as "Schuller's Test." Naturally, it is in a large part subjective, but does anyone know, in your own words, Schuller's Test?
The Schuller Test was that the piece had to sound "hornistic" regardless of difficulty and also could not have been played as effectively on any other orchestral instrument.
- Famous quote by famous American Hornist:
.."the "natural" player may be at a disadvantage in that he has never had to deal with flaws of embouchure, as most players have, and is therefore less well equipped to diagnose and deal with one if ever it does arise." Who wrote this? Farkas, the Art of Brass Playing.
- Around the turn of the century, Kruspe is credited with coming out with the first "F-Bb double" horn. Was this model actually the first full double horn? If not, what horn was, and approximately when was it introduced?

- Here is a quote from a famous hornist, horn designer and custom builder on why he became a horn player in the first place. Identify this German artist:

- Subject: Beethoven's Opera Fidelio...This opera has been edited by external forces more times than your "neighborhood telephone book." How many acts did it originally have and what is the original full name of the opera? And I don't want to know how many overtures were written, too much paper would be wasted....
