  1. What nationality was Valkenier, or, alternatively, can you spell his first name?

    Dutch; Willem

  2. What orchestra did he play in prior to the BSO?

    Berlin Philharmonic

  3. Why did he leave that earlier job?

    Foreigners were no longer welcome in important jobs in Germany at the time -- which I'm pretty sure was just before the First WW. although I'm not positive

  4. What is the date of St. Hubert's feast day?

    Nov. 3 (which also happens to be my birthday - latter part *not* significa, except to me, of course! I guess I really had no choice other than to be a horn player, but then hardly a cruel fate!)
