Music for Horn, Trumpet and Trombone

I'm searching for trios for horn, trumpet and trombone besides the Poulenc. Any ideas? Thanks.
  • "Three Anachronisms" - Bruce Thompson, Thompson Edition
  • "Trio #2" - Robert Nagel
  • "Trio for Brass" - Vaclav Nelhybel - General Music

Try these for starters. Also, sometime late this year or early next, Anthony Plog's "Trio for Brass" will be available from Editions BIM.

Franckenpohl has a nice trio written for that combo in a Hindemith-ish type of musical language, and also there is an challenging arrangement of the Beethoven trio for two oboes and english horn that is not so terrible (published by Robert King maybe...?). I believe also that Fischer Tull may have written a piece...

Verne Reynolds has written a really great piece for that combo. It has some theatrics with sitting in and out of chairs, going on and off stage. I recall that it was written really well - individual cadenzas, and duet sections give everybody a chance to rest for a bit.

Once upon a time, I played in a brass trio that did regular children's concerts. Arrangements are relatively easy to construct from most brass quintet charts - from Renaissance/Baroque to William Tell to John William's Olympic Fanfares.

In the Vermont Symphony Brass Trio, we have discovered several very good pieces: the Frackenpohl Trio; Voyage, by Muczynski; Aria & Allegro by Runnning, and Triangles by David Uber, and the Little Trio by Watkins. All are interesting to play and listen to.
One trio comes to mind, Frankenpol(I question my spelling). It is a fun piece like his duet for Tuba and Horn.
